MAPA’s Academy Policies

  • All MAPA students and parents must agree and adhere to MAPA’s COVID-19 Policies and Procedures.

  • All registration will be done virtually through your student/family portal via online registration. If you need help with the registration process, please contact the MAPA office during business hours, 808-244-8760

Summer Musical Theatre Camp Policies

A non-refundable deposit of $350 is due by May 4, 2022 to secure a place in the camp. Remaining tuition balance is due no later than May 25. If your account has not been paid in full by the date specified, MAPA reserves the right to remove your child from the program. Tuition refunds (less non-refundable deposit) may be given through May 27, 2022. No refunds will be issued after May 27. Students who withdraw between May 28 and June 8 will receive tuition credit towards future MAPA programs good for one year. No credits will be given after June 8, 2022.

MAPA reserves the right to redirect a student to another MAPA program if MAPA faculty and/or administrators determine that the student’s educational and artistic needs would be better served in a different program. No change in program enrollment will be made without parent’s permission. Tuition will be adjusted accordingly to reflect the program change.

Weekly Camps Tuition Policy (Make Believe, Shining Stars, Enchanted/Encanto)

Payment is due in full upon registration. A withdrawal from the camp after payment is rendered is subject to a $25 withdrawal fee. Tuition refunds and credits are subject to the following limitations:

  • Students withdrawing at least 7 days before camp begins will receive a tuition refund less the $25 withdrawal fee.

  • Students withdrawing 3-6 days before camp begins will receive a tuition credit less the $25 fee. Credit may be used towards tuition for MAPA programs up to one year from the date of issuance.

  • No credits will be given to students withdrawing less than 72 hours before camp begins or after camp has begun.

Spring Quarter Policies

  • Payment is due in full or by pre-arranged payment plan (credit card auto charge) at registration. All accounts must be fully paid before the next semester's registration opens. Students with unpaid balances will not be permitted to register for following semesters.

  • Any class changes will be subject to a $25 fee per change unless the change is recommended in writing by a MAPA Teaching Artist.

  • Refunds are processed through the MAPA office.

  • Full refunds less a $25 drop fee (+ any class taken/passed) is available for the first week of the semester. Students withdrawing within the second week of the semester will receive tuition credits toward other MAPA programs (less a $25 drop fee + classes taken/passed) good for one full year. NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS will be issued after the first 3 weeks of the semester. In the event that MAPA cancels a class, a refund less the classes taken ($20 for a class an hour long or less and $25 for a class running more than an hour) will be issued.

  • If an injury necessitates missing classes for two weeks or more, accounts may be credited for one subsequent semester upon submission of a physician's note.

  • Missed classes may be made up during the current semester ONLY. Make up classes must be the same type of class with room available. (i.e. Ballet makes up in ballet class - not in jazz or any other type of class, unless authorized by MAPA office.)

  • If a student is on a mandated quarantine but is not ill MAPA encourages the students to participate via online offerings. To gain access to a specific class, please contact the MAPA office register@mauiacademy.org at minimum of 24 hours before class.

  • Pro-rating of classes will only happen after week 3 of any semester.

  • MAPA holds the right to switch to online classes at any point in a semester, because of circumstances beyond their control, with no obligation of credits or refunds given if students/families choose not to participate.

  • If you are unsure if your child will want to take a full semester of a class, your child may take one trial class at $20 for a class an hour long or less and $25 for a class running more than an hour. After that, the child must be registered and paid for the entire semester. If the child registers for the class, the single class payment will be applied to the total tuition. Trial class fees must be arranged at least 24 hours in advance with the MAPA office. Closed/full classes cannot accept trial class students.

  • Adults wishing to take single classes may purchase single class punch cards through the MAPA office. Cards are sold in bundles of 4 classes or 8 classes at a rate of $25 (45-60 minute) or $30 (61-90 minute) per class. Single class cards expire at the end of the semester and are only valid in classes with open spaces. Purchase of single class cards does not guarantee you a spot in any class. To guarantee your spot please register for the full semester.

Additional Info…

· A $35 fee will be assessed for all returned checks.

· MAPA teachers and staff have the discretionary authority to remove a student if a disciplinary issue arises. See behavior policy below.

· MAPA reserves the right to use any photos & videos taken of the student(s) in all promotional material including, but not limited to, MAPA's website, publications or advertising.

· At this time there is no parent observation available for all MAPA classes. MAPA will reassess this policy as COVID guidelines allow.

MAPA’s Studio Rules

· Arrive 10 minutes before class in order be let into class on time.

· Mask that covers nose and mouth must be worn at all times. One will be provided, if supplies allow, if student arrives without one.

· When entering student must sanitize hands and teaching artist will take temperature.

· Must agree and follow full COVID 19 Policy and Procedures found here. No compliance will result in students removal from class/es for the day.

· Bring water bottle for water.

· Only water allowed in classrooms, all food to must be consumed downstairs either in lobby or outside of building.

· Respect your space and clean up after yourself and others.

· No dirty street shoes to be worn in dance studios. All shoes must be clean and put on once in class.

· Be mindful of other students possibly younger than you and watch your language.

· Leave bathrooms cleaner than how you found them.

· Never leave belongings unattended, bring all things into studio with you and place under o hangers.

· Please turn cell phones off or put on silent when in class.

· Talking is allowed in class when asking or answering questions, participating in group conversations/activities.

MAPA’s Behavior Policy

At MAPA, we believe that a safe, positive learning environment is essential for effective learning in the arts. Our teaching artists make every effort to create an atmosphere of trust, cooperation and respect. With the support of home, school and community, we believe that every student is capable of taking responsibility for their own behavior and making choices that are respectful and safe.

If a student chooses to:

· disregard COVID 19 policies and procedures- automatic removal from class/es for the day. Refer to COVID Policy.

· disregard the instructions of a teaching artist or person in charge

· put another student or self in physical danger

· put another student in emotional danger

· break any conditions in a contract signed by the student the following disciplinary course of action will ensue:

· first infraction – verbal warning

· second infraction – meeting with student, parent or guardian(s) and MAPA staff member(s)

· third infraction – immediate removal from the program (no refunds)

MAPA’s Parking Policy

· Guardians/students should arrive 15-20 mins before class to find parking in designated parking areas (find parking map here) and time to walk to 2050 Main St.

· No parking is allowed in the 2050 Main St parking lot – Towing will be at owner’s expense
