Building the Dream
The Naylor
MAPA’s decades-long dream of a permanent home of our own is finally coming true! The Main Street Arts Project in the heart of historic Wailuku is a place where people from all walks of life, from keiki to kūpuna, will gather to participate in locally-produced performing arts programs.
The Main Street Arts Project includes The Naylor, a 185-seat black box theatre currently under construction in the former National Dollar Store. In addition to the performance space, the building will house a rehearsal studio, green room, dressing room, new restrooms, and a rooftop photovoltaic system. With a reconfigurable seating system and state-of-the-art audiovisual and lighting systems, the venue will be suitable for theatre, music, dance, comedy, film, and a wide range of events. Construction began in December 2023 and will be complete in mid-2025.
Check out photos of the construction in progress on our Facilities page!
Our capital campaign goal for this project is $15 million. Please help us get to the finish line - we have secured 95% of our funding! We’re grateful for contributions of any size. Donors contributing $1,000 or more to MAPA’s capital campaign will be acknowledged on the Donor Recognition wall in the lobby.
We invite you to consider a naming opportunity for yourself or to honor or memorialize a loved one.
